Abstract
- The article presents information on a study which determines the magnetic field effects in the haem-dependent enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The study shows that the application of external magnetic fields can perturb reaction kinetics through the constraints of the radical pair mechanism. The study findings suggest that relatively modest fields, including those of environmentally realistic magnitude, can influence the yields and rates of radical pair. According to the researchers, the reaction catalyzed by HRP includes oxidative and reductive half reactions.
