Abstract
- The article presents world news briefs. Following North Korea's missile-launches, protesters burned North Korean flags and an effigy of Kim Jong II. Officials in Beijing and Moscow, who had been very public in their opposition, continued to resist U.S. pressure for United Nations sanctions on North Korea's regime. Mexico's ruling National Action Party's Felipe Calderon won the presidential election by a slim margin. His leftist opponent, former Mexico City Mayor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, claimed fraud. The Darfur peace accord risks collapse, partly due to growing opposition from the war's victims.
