Abstract

The article focuses on the confinement of bisphosphonate drug in the pores of silica-based ordered mesoporous materials for a local and controlled drug delivery. The materials are found to induce apatite formation in physiological fluids. This characteristic of silica-based ordered mesoporous materials together with the possibility of confining bisphosphonates suggests new expectancies in bone tissue regeneration.
