Engaging students with online assignments: a replacement for digital dropboxes and paper assignments.

The article discusses the response and file exchange capabilities of Web-enhanced instruction. Two specific features of Blackboard, Digital Dropbox and Assignments, are considered. Digital Dropbox allows students to upload their work and permits the instructor to review at a later time. Assignments provides a better way of sharing information. It appears to provide features which potentially overcome the limitations of the Digital Dropbox. Most students preferred to use the Assignments feature because it was easier to use and required fewer steps, suggesting that other students will generally prefer this feature.
