The article presents a critical review of literature on the significant advancements and trends in gas chromatography (GC). The article discusses the book "Modern Practice of Gas Chromatography," 4th edition, by Robert L. Grob and Eugene F. Barry, the use of ionic liquids in GC separations, dertivitzed cyclodextrin molecules, high-speed and portable gas chromatography, microfabricated GC systems, microelectromechanical system-based injectors, columns, and detectors, spectroscopic detectors, and advancements in data processing and analysis.
