Abstract
- In this article the author describes the difficulties she associated with her move to Beijing to set up a bureau for Great Britain's "Channel 4 News." She is required to adopt a Chinese name, corresponding phonetically to her English one, and explains the problems of buying a "chop" or rubber stamp inscribed with Chinese characters representing her company. She rents an apartment in the diplomatic quarter of the city.
