Abstract
- The article presents the author's views on the significance of cultural-social anthropology. Anthropologists had started studying tribal, forest dwelling communities as anthropology was considered the study of other cultures, so there was some reluctance when the author wanted to study the Kashmiri Pandit community. The validity of anthropologist Immanuel Wallerstein's argument regarding the abolition of the barriers of social science disciplines should be recognized.
