Abstract: Continual changes in cochlear implant technology have resulted in the development of superior implants which improve quality of life of users. We present the case of a taxi driver who has been in our cochlear implant programme since 1991 and has required reimplantation. We discuss the benefits of the new implant on his life and work. A novel technique to successfully reimplant the ipsilateral cochlea is highlighted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
