Abstract

The article looks at the design of the Fayetteville Public Library in Arkansas. The library was constructed with cork floors because cork was sustainable, absorbed noise well, and made for a good design. After the installation of the cork flooring, the paste-wax finishing on the floor was found to be very difficult to clean. The library decided on a tongue-oil finish, which helps repel dirt.
