All-Carbon Quaternary Centers via Catalytic Asymmetric Hydrovinylation. New Approaches to the Exocyclic Side Chain Stereochemistry Problem.

The article describes the enantioselective hydrovinylation of 1-alkylvinylarenes using phosphoramidite ligands under highly tolerant conditions. The yields and selectivities are highly reproducible and best selectivity is observed at low temperatures. Use of a bulkier phosphoramidite ligand carrying an N-1-naphthylethyl substituent can lead to lower activities and selectivities.
