Abstract

In this article the authors summarize beliefs regarding the cause and timing of multiple sclerosis in a sample of midwestern patients and their attempts to make meaning of the experience of living with multiple sclerosis. The process of making meaning is distinguished from the content of beliefs and is related to perceived quality of life. Implications for the stress and adaptation literature, family therapy, and information science are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
