Abstract
- The article explores the parliamentary election made in December 1779 in Hampshire, England, particularly emphasizing the rivalry in this eighteenth century election. It provides information about Sir Richard Worsely, the Duke of Chandos, as the leading candidate to rule the area. Surprisingly, he was defeated by Jervoise Clarke Jervoise that posted a conflicting principle in the North. The Hampshire election has been noted as portraying a connection between the elite and the popular politics.
