Abstract

The article informs that strong demand for both airline transports and business jets is creating slot-availability bottlenecks that are starting to hamper discussions between airframe makers and their customers. With Airbus and Boeing quickly filling up their order books, high-end corporate operators are having to wait longer to be assured of aircraft availability. The production-slot bottleneck is perhaps the only blemish on what is otherwise a booming business segment that has shed the doldrums of three years ago. One work-around to satisfy customers more quickly is through used aircraft, which would serve as a bridge until the new order becomes available. Emerging markets and new business models are key drivers of the current order surge.
