Abstract
- Microscopic calculations of nuclear states excited by means of charge-exchange reactions, in particular of the isobaric analog resonance, are presented for the case of even-even Sn isotopes, by making a comparison with the presently available experimental data and giving predictions for unstable systems. The framework is a fully self-consistent non-relativistic QRPA built on the top of HF-BCS, including the charge symmetry and charge independence breaking (CSB-CIB) forces and the electromagnetic spin-orbit (in addition to the Coulomb interaction), as charge-breaking terms in the nuclear Hamiltonian. The fully self-consistency of our method provides the restoration of the symmetries which are spontaneously broken at the ground state level, such as the isospin symmetry. This allows to calculate physical observables, such as the isospin admixture in the parent ground state, without any spurious contribution. © 2006 American Institute of Physics [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
