Abstract

The article presents a discussion on aircraft freight. After dipping in the first half of the decade, the world's air cargo fleet has returned to growth rates of 80-90 aircraft a year. The aircraft represents a sixth of the 1,760 jet transport freighters flying, but the model accounts for more than 50% of the world's total freighter capacity. Large freighter growth indicates how much industry and consumer markets demand fast and guaranteed deliveries of time-sensitive cargo, which includes everything from high-value electronics to the latest fashion apparel.
