Abstract

This article explores the widespread fusion of the seemingly contradictory concepts of crucifixion and exaltation of Jesus Christ in the passion narratives of the Gospels. Preservation of the idea of crucifixion as coronation in other Gospels such as the extension of the conversation between Jesus and Pilate in the Gospel of John; Link between the elevation on a cross with high social aspirations; Discussion of the parodic elements in other Roman punishments.
