Abstract
- The article reports on steps campuses are taking to be more environmentally friendly. 110 colleges across the country are building structures that meet high energy efficiency standards. Carnegie Mellon has a hall with a living roof and the first green dormitory in the country. Portland State University also has a green dorm that creates little waste. The environmentally friendly living option at the University of South Carolina was so popular, students were required to write an essay to get in.
