Abstract

The article presents information on amaurosis fugax. Amaurosis fugax is a term used to describe a temporary, monocular, visual loss. Its most common cause is temporary retinal ischemia caused by embolism from the carotid artery, heart or aorta. Other causes include impending central retinal vein occlusion, glaucoma, retinal migraine, intermittent ocular hemorrhage and optic nerve head drusen. The visual loss usually lasts for seconds to minutes.
