Abstract
- The article discusses the result of the study regarding the characterization and the enzymic activity of the K-5 type yeast killer toxin, in Turkey. A broad killing spectrum has been secreted by P. anomala NCYC 434 cells, which is the K-5 yeast killer toxin. The β-1,3 glucans represent the primary toxin binding site within the cell wall of sensitive cells, through the competitive inhibition of killer activity. Toxins exerted cytocidal effects after hours of contact with the target cells.
