Abstract
- The article reports on the impact of the avian flu pandemic on the business operations of several firms in the U.S. as of December 12, 2005. The run-of-the-mill influenza season causes employees to miss an average of 1.5 days and costs companies approximately $660 per worker for unscheduled absences, taking a toll on human capital and hampering productivity.
