Abstract

This article reports that Hopkinton, Massachusetts-based EMC Corp. launched the Symmetrix DMX-3 RAID with scalability from 96 to 2,400 data disk drives to deliver one petabyte of capacity and the Celerra network-attached storage (NAS) device that offers integration with the Rainfinity Global File Virtualization application software. Rainfinity virtualizes Unix, Linux, and Windows file systems across heterogeneous file servers and NAS systems. A systems integrator predicts that one petabyte databases will follow the availability of DMX-3.
