Abstract
- The article profiles Dewitt Gilmore, who self-publishes his paperback books. Gilmore, whose pen name is Relentless Aaron, aggressively markets and distributes the books on buses, sidewalks, the Internet and small bookstores. After serving a sentence for check-cashing fraud in New Jersey, Gilmore walked out of prison with 30 completed manuscripts. Recently he signed a contract with St. Martin's Press. The contract, says editor Monique Patterson, is a sign of a surging interest by large publishing houses in so-called street literature.
