Abstract

The article focuses on the need for the U.S. Air Force to have a civil-defense program in order to stop the attacks by the Soviet Union. The Joint Chiefs of Staff provided defense roles to the Air Force such as strategic bombing, air defense and tactical support. It states a false notion that radar screens and electronic devices will provide U.S. forces a strong air defense against the enemy's attack. It cites that the U.S. security will not be guaranteed with air superiority alone.
