Abstract: The article expounds on the economic views of the late economist Peter Bauer. Bauer was known for his courage in relying on simple verities like the poor's ability for self-sustenance and growth without the interference of the government. Relative success of some societies attributed to institutional frameworks, in Bauer's observation, was a historical incident.
