Abstract
- The article reports on new research into a handful of genes that control the body's defenses, improve health and prolong life in diverse organisms.The author suggests that understanding how such genes work may reveal the keys to extending human life span while banishing diseases of old age. The affect of calorie intake on life span extension is analyzed. The author discusses how animal genetic research on the issue might provide insight into prolonged cell survival and improved DNA stability in humans.
