Abstract
- The article reports that led by its twin-engine, wide-body family, Boeing Co. set a sales record for 2005 with orders for 1,002 aircraft, including individual high marks for the 737, 777 and 787, the company's three main product lines. As the year progressed, the pace of sales picked up, reaching a crescendo after December 20, 2005, when 11 carriers signed orders for 134 aircraft. At more than 6,000, the 737's order list is an industry record, but the Airbus A320 has been the best annual seller among single-aisle aircraft for some years. Now, Boeing's strength in the higher-priced widebody market is attracting attention.
