Abstract
- This article focuses on the rule "Fla. R. Civil. P. 1.525 related to attorneys' fees and costs. In a judgment pronounced in the year 2000, the Florida Supreme Court adopted this rule. The Court stated that any party seeking a judgment taxing costs, attorneys' fees or both shall serve a motion within 30 days after filing of the judgment, including a judgment of dismissal or the service of a notice of voluntary dismissal. The Court noted that this rule was meant to bring uniformity to an area of the law which has been governed by judges' discretionary "reasonableness" inquiries.
