Abstract

The article discusses the implication of the efforts of private sector in responding to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for the U.S. government. Wal-Mart Stores played a major role in the command post, the forecasting and the pre-positioning of supplies to disaster victims. Many private companies offered help into the Federal Emergency Management Agency through its Web site. The nonprofit organization BENS contributed to the disaster efforts in the country.
