Ovarian cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women. A genetic predisposition is found in 10% of the cases. Environmental factors have been shown to influence the risk of developing this cancer. Moreover, mutations of the BRCA genes are responsible for a large proportion of hereditary cases. The identification of predisposing genes has permitted the development of molecular diagnosis of the genetic risk of ovarian cancer.
