Abstract

The article provides information on Combat Search And Rescue (CSAR), which is about rescuing downed air crews and other selected military personnel from hostile territory. It involves all aspects of basic SAR missions, but with the exceedingly important difference that they must be planned and implemented while taking in consideration the possibility of an hostile reaction. The main rationale for CSAR operations to the benefit of specialised personnel is that pilots, SOF operators and the like are very expensive to train. It is becoming increasingly important in robust Peace Support Operations and expeditionary missions. INSETS: The EH-101 CSAR As an Example.;Radios and Locators..
