Abstract

This article offers ideas for approaching a case involving an alleged failure of a sludge treatment facility at a sewage treatment plant for a very large residential community. They include, first, narrowing the focus on the case by sticking to doing the best job on engineering matters and not involving oneself in politics, personalities, or other matters. Second, do not play the blame game. There are several factors that are demeaning and denigrating to the engineering profession, including the recent emphasis in government, business and the press on corporate misconduct and presumed lack of integrity, especially regarding engineering professionals.
