Abstract

The article presents a discussion on the problems of part-time college teachers in getting full-time opportunities at colleges and universities. It also includes issues concerning job search in higher education. Big universities rely upon hundreds of subordinates for nearly all departments. The article views that it is very rare for adjuncts to move up. More often, they adjunct until they get disgusted and leave academe, or until they get tenure-track jobs somewhere else. If someone wants to get out of adjunct-hood, he needs considerable number of publications in his field of specialization.
