Abstract
- This article focuses on the representation of canker-worm in the poetry of John Milton. Milton associates the canker-worm with poisonous corruption. By that he characterizes the worm as a devourer and destroyer. As usual, Milton levels the bishops and monks to that of a canker-worm who gnaw secretly and fatally the commandments of God.
