Abstract

The article reports on the launching of the Intelligent Vehicle/Highway System projected for the area of Orlando, Florida. Drivers equipped with Oldsmobile Trofoes will get advice from their vehicles though electronic maps, symbolic displays, and synthesized voice. The automobiles will also report their position and status to a traffic management center. Likewise, the said report will also gather traffic flow data for the American Automobile Association's (AAA) database and render traffic advice to drivers.
