Abstract

The article focuses on the works of jeweler Vera Siemund. Siemund is a young German who apprenticed in goldsmithing at the Staatliche Zeichenakademie in Hanau, Germany before studying at Burg Giebichenstein in Halle, from which she graduated in 2001. The art of Siemund exemplifies cultural historian Wendy Steiner's humanistic definition of beauty as not a thing but a relationship in which value is revealed. Classical references are seen in in the use of amphora by Siemund.
