Abstract
- The article reports on nurse Ellie Lindsay developing a community-based approach to leg ulcer care, which grew into a network of clinics known as "leg clubs." The Lindsay Leg Club Foundation is a network for those involved in leg clubs. Typically, the clubs meet once a week, sometimes twice, and their aim is to empower members to participate in their own care in an environment that can case loneliness and isolation through peer support. Patients are treated collectively with an emphasis on positive health beliefs designed to counter the pain and fluid leakage associated with leg ulcers, which can have a devastating effect on people's lives.
