Abstract
- The article discusses the role of dental team in providing smoking cessation advices in Great Britain. The most obvious effect of smoking on oral health is stained teeth. However the impact of tobacco on the oral issues is far more insidious with more than 2000 cases of oral cancer every year in the country. Smoking has an influence on the severity of periodontal diseases and adversely affects the wound healing process. These effects can be a very powerful motivator for smokers to quit, which is one of the reasons why the dental team are so well placed to give advice on quitting.
