Abstract
- The article reports on a decrease in catfish processing in the U.S. in August 2005. Farm-raised catfish processed during August 2005 totaled 50.7 million pounds round weight, down 5 percent from August 2004. The average price paid to producers was 72.4 cents per pound for August 2005, up 0.1 cent from last month and 4.1 cents above a year ago. Net pounds of processed fish sold during August 2005 totaled 25.3 million pounds, down 5 percent from the comparable month in 2004. Exports of frozen, boneless catfish fillets reported for July 2005 totaled 18.0 thousand pounds, 15.0 thousand of which went to Canada. INSET: Aquaculture Fact.
