Abstract
- The article reports on the Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners status earned by members of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) in Great Britain in November 2005. Around 6,000 members are expected to receive the new designation on November 16. With chartered status, practitioners hope to have greater influence in their workplaces, with their views and opinions respected by employers and the outside world. Chartered status confers a badge of competence on IOSH members, which in turn brings new challenges. Tackling occupational ill health is one of these.
