Mentoring the untenured librarian.

This article provides an overview of the activities and programs of a research committee that will assist both tenured and untenured library faculty at the Mississippi State University Libraries. The article further discusses strategies for extending the support provided by the research committee in mentoring the untenured librarian. Beginning as an ad hoc committee, the research committee became a standing committee of the library in 1999. The task of the research committee includes developing programs to enhance the research skills of the library faculty and sponsoring informal discussions of research ideas, strategies, methodologies, and opportunities.
