Abstract

This article compares digital video recording devices that record to DVD and those that record to a hard drive. DVD recorders are like VCRs, only on a digital format, they provide unlimited storage potential due to the use of removable media and allow consumers to duplicate camcorder recordings on DVD. By contrast, DVR is limited by the size of the hard drive it has, but they allow the experience of video-on-demand.
