Abstract

The article presents information on the artistic works of artist James Browning Wyeth. Like all great art, Wyeth's works are simultaneously complex and a pleasure to view. Wyeth has been painting birds for more than 40 years, and while his ornithological paintings are not as stylized and rigid, his painterly strokes have nevertheless captured realistic and detailed physical features. The Kent House, built by painter Rockwell Kent and now owned by Wyeth, is located far out in the ocean on Monhegan Island, Maine. Here his painterly strokes, color and composition create a house that breathes as a living creature, soaring with awe at the nature surrounding it.
