Where the Inside Meets the Outside: Exploring Kayapo Cosmology and Cultural Maintenance.

The Kayapo people continue to surprise the international community with their ability to interact with Western society while maintaining their own culture. Contrary to most portrayals, Indigenous peoples have not been the hapless victims of colonialism and globalization. Through analysis of Kayapo cultural ideology, it is possible to reveal the beliefs that have enabled the Kayapo to interact with and defend against Western imperialism while maintaining much of their traditional way of life.
