Abstract

The article focuses on falls in older people. Falls are common. Up to 30% of people aged over 65 years fall each year in Great Britain. Many people do not suffer adverse effects from the fall, but many do. Fractures and fear of falling are among the most common consequences. A fall with femur fracture is the most common cause for admission to long-term care in Great Britain. Fear of falls reduces patients' quality of life and increases dependency. This has significant knock-on effects for social and community care. INSET: Successful cases.
