Abstract
- This essat explores the themes of the writing of Newfoundland novelist Wayne Johnston. This shows in many ways the unearthing of parental secrets by using many of his own family memoirs. It shows how parents are often predefined by their past and how their parents and all before them raised children and developed families and family traditions. The family lines and the strength that they carry through all of the generations was discussed and that you see this best when you speak of old times and glance through books of memoirs of the days and years that have passed.
