Abstract
- The article presents abstracts from papers related to animal nutrition that were published in the February 2005 issue of the "Journal of Animal Science." The paper "Body Condition Score at Parturition and Effects of Postpartum Supplemental Fat on Metabolite and Hormone Concentrations of Beef Cows," by S. Laket, E. Scholljegerdes, V. Nayigihugu, R. Atkinson, E. Van Kirk, D. Rule, D. Hallford, G. Moss, and B. Hess, determined the effects of body condition score at parturition and postpartum lipid supplementation on blood metabolite and hormone concentrations. The paper "In-Vitro and In-Vivo Rumen Fermentation and Gas Production: Influence of Corn and Mineral Oils and Their Bloat Potential," B. Min and W. Pinchak, investigated the influence of mineral and corn oil on ruminal fermentation, gas production, and bloat potential in a series of in vitro and in vivo grazing studies. The paper "Fatty Acid Composition of Plasma, Medial Basal Hypothalamus, and Uterine Tissue in Primiparous Beef Cows Fed High-Linoleate Safflower Seeds," was presented by E. Scholljegerdes, D.
