Abstract
- The paper emphasizes the relevance of university extension programs in professional training within graduate education institutions, focusing on participation in a prison education extension project. The study aimed to investigate the contributions of extension programs to the development and mobilization of professional knowledge during the initial training of a Mathematics teacher, based on Maurice Tardif's framework on teacher knowledge. The roles assigned to Brazilian university extension programs and their potential in teacher education are discussed. Using the (auto)biographical method, we analyzed the contributions of extension activities to the initial training of a Mathematics teacher. The results revealed that extension programs foster the mobilization of diverse teaching knowledge in various contexts and moments, constituting a significant formative experience. Furthermore, the study highlighted its role in shaping the extension participant's professional identity, transforming the "personal self" into the "professional self". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
