Abstract

Flourishing in adolescence is a crucial aspect of psychological development, encompassing well-being and effective functioning. Flourishing refers to the good life, feeling good, and effectively performing human actions. The Flourishing Scale (FS) is a brief measure of self-perceived success concerning relationships, self-esteem, purpose, and optimism. This was the first study to assess the psychometric properties of the FS in a sample of 291 Italian adolescents (M = 16.47 years, SD = 1.65; 39.86% male). The results confirmed the one-dimensional structure of the FS. Reliability was good, and measurement invariance between sex and age groups was established. There were no sex or age differences in flourishing. The latter correlated positively with life satisfaction and negatively with rumination and depression. These results suggest that the FS is a valid and reliable tool for assessing flourishing among Italian adolescents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
