In the interconnected world, collaboration is the game changer. Agencies and firms, citizens and groups who can collaborate, will thrive in the networked world; those who cannot are doomed to perish. There is considerable evidence to suggest that collaboration is a necessary condition to drive innovation, particularly transformational innovation. The mining industry can harness the potential of collaboration to achieve more than just productivity gains, by focusing on sector-wide efficiency gains and moving over to the newer technology domains by handholding, which will benefit all the participants rather than give anyone a competitive advantage.
