Abstract

Vocational guidance has the social task of ensuring that responsible choices of educational and vocational pathways are made with ever more informed judgement; an aspect that has been widely researched in the field of education in general, but not in the same way for vocational training. With the aim of proposing a system that facilitates the integration of the factors that contextualize and influence vocational guidance for the vocational training of lower secondary school students at municipal level, the study was developed using a mixed research approach; with a first quantitative stage, and a non-experimental design of a cross-sectional type and in the second qualitative stage with an action-research design. The results corroborated that the work of vocational guidance for vocational training carried out by the factors involved in the municipality is insufficient, which motivated the design of an integrated guidance system that enriched the existing theory in Cuba regarding the processes of vocational guidance for vocational training by modelling how to manage this process considering the administrative framework of participating structures with functional relationships, reformulating the factors involved and their functions according to the level of participation. The integrated system offered the opportunity to develop a proactive guidance approach congruent with lifelong learning to respond to a process that is cyclical. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
